Google Suggest: Thanks But No Thanks?
As the world’s most popular search engine, there are few people who could admit to never using Google to find out the answer to a question. Whether you are trying to find out how to get to the nearest train station or searching for the meaning of life, Google is an invaluable tool that many of us can’t possibly live without. The people behind Google are no doubt aware of the reliance that many of us have on the search engine, which is why they have devised helpful ways of ensuring that we get the information that we want.
One of the clever tools that Google offers is ‘Google Suggest’, which offers real time suggestions to complete your search query as you type. As much as we all appreciate the helping hand to get us to where we want to be, there are some drawbacks of the ‘suggestive search’. The suggestions that are given are the real time, overall popular search terms made by other users. Some are funny, some are downright disturbing but ultimately, they are all entertaining and give us an insight into what is really going on inside other people’s minds.
