There are literally thousands of iPhone apps around designed to help make your life easier, from a calorie counter to those dedicated to booking taxis and even searching for movie times, there seems to be something for everyone. In the midst of all of these information based apps it seems that there was a gap in the market, a gap for one of the most entertaining (or annoying) apps designed for the iPhone, Talking Carl.
On the outside there really doesn't seem to be any point to Talking Carl, it doesn't offer any information or serve a practical purpose yet it is one of the most popular apps for the phone. Carl is a red square with two arms and two eyes attached to the top of his head; however his most important feature is his large red mouth which he uses to mimic everything you say in a ridiculously high voice. Carl reacts to being tickled, punched and even having his eyes prodded allowing people to take out their inner stress alongside making him recite the words to Poker Face. Through an internal microphone on the iPhone, users can make Carl repeat anything that they say which is ideal for keeping children occupied or even adults as they test the limits of Carl’s more colourful 'vocabulary'.
Already there are thousands of video's uploaded onto YouTube showing Carl in various situations, some of the most popular include ‘Duelling Carl's' where Talking Carl mimics himself, the ‘Talking Carl Song’ and 'Cockatoo vs. Talking Carl'. There are also hundreds of similar videos of small children playing with Carl and the amazing 'Single Ladies' Carl cover version.

Talking Carl is the ultimate iPhone entertainment app proving yet again that it really is the simple things that make the most impact. Whether you are using it to amuse yourself, annoy your work colleagues or just trying to keep the kids quiet for a few hours it is definitely an app worth considering.
