iConfess

Just when you think that there is an app for absolutely everything, something comes along that makes you think 'who on earth would have even thought this up?!' The latest crazy app for the iPhone and iPad is Confession: A Roman Catholic App, this technological treat offers a modern alternative to confessing your sins- for just £1.99. The app can be downloaded to a device ready for users to divulge their wrongdoings and comes with the seal of approval from the Catholic Church.

The snappy tagline of this new application reads that it's the 'perfect aid for every penitent' measuring the user’s sex, age and occupation along with calculating how long it has been since their last confession. After the stats have been calculated the app then goes on to decide just which penance to impose via an ‘examination of conscience’. Users can choose from seven acts of contrition after they have confessed, seemingly this religious app thinks of everything!

Little iApps are the masterminds behind the development of the project, the three man team from Inniapolis describe the app as being 'a step-by-step guide to the sacrament, inviting Catholics to prayerfully prepare for and participate in the Rite of Penance' The project impressed several high ranking officials in the Catholic Church leading to it being granted an imprimatur, the equivalent to a giant thumbs up from the church. A selection of priests offered their input by ensuring that the ‘examination of conscience’ was accurate, great news for anyone worried that they would be getting a watered down version of the traditional confession.

So far the app has proved to be a popular purchase with many applauding its convenience. Equipped with a private journal feature and a catalogue of spiritual readings this app is the ideal solution for modern, working Catholics.
